Some ideas to help young couples is the budget thing. Myself being part of the young couple category, us youngins dont really have all the credit card debt or the financial problems yet. We just recetly started making our own money. I came across your blog looking for some help, and you provided some but its mainly for older couples. Help us even begin to know how and where to start off with a budget. Im working and going to school and my fiance is just working. So maybe try to fit schooling some where in there too. I cant realy think of a lot of things because Im not sure myself hence the researching. Any more Ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Rene, I'm not sure I understand your question? But, I'll try to answer. The relationship is top priority. In my opinion, a relationship built upon trust, Christ and a strong commitment to one another can overcome any obstacle.

So there couldn't be a problem if both of the parties knows the financial situation that already exist and given that step forward and getting help to resolve it, when both of us have the determination did that's what we really want to do?

Is it true that Love can do anything?

Thanks Jason.

Reme, if there are already issues and you know this person is the one, I would recommend seeing a financial counselor or see a premarital counselor. My wife and I attended a marriage seminar at our church that touched on challenging topics such as money. A counselor can spend some time with you and help work through any challenges and make your relationship stronger.

Hi Jason; I found all of your advices interesting and realistic but...
What about when there are already financial issues/mest in one of them?

Would that be a reason not to marry even when you think/know did that is you significant other?

Thank you, Victorino! Yes, I find so many people just don't get it all on the table. While it may not be pretty, it's the best thing you can do for your relationship. Once it's out there, you can begin building on a solid foundation of trust!

This is significantly a great PF article. I totally agree the first and foremost tip - presenting all the truth about each other financial condition (potential condition). In a relationship, honesty is is still the best policy. By discovering current and potential financial problems - we can find early cure or preventive measures.

Austin, thanks! I'm curious to know if you thought about just combining everything together and paying your bills out of one joint account.

Communication is so vital. My gf and I have been together for 3 years and I couldn't imagine being as close as we are without communicating.

I recently wrote a post about how we split our bills (based off a % of our incomes). Your readers might be interested in that if they're struggling to split bills every month.

Great post!
