Compass – Finances God’s Way is founded by Howard Dayton. Many of you know Howard from his founding of Crown Ministries in 1985 and served as its president until it merged with Christian Financial Concepts (founded by Larry Burkett) in 2000 to form Crown Financial Ministries, the world’s largest financial ministry. Howard served as Crown’s CEO until transitioning from this role in 2007. In 2009, he started Compass—Finances God’s Way whose mission is equipping people worldwide to faithfully apply God’s financial principles so they may know Christ more intimately, be free to serve Him and help fund the Great Commission.
As they have continued to develop resources, they recently introduced the Compass Map which they describe as “a simple step-by-step visual aid that can help everyone. The map is easy to understand and follow. As you faithfully and prayerfully work through the seven destinations, you’ll have the opportunity to experience true financial freedom!” You can get yours for free by clicking here.
I of course had to check out the map to see what this new resource offered. I really liked the very modern look of a “Google-type map” along with clear destination points. Add to it their creative naming of the streets such as Debt Free Ave, Generosity Ave, and Financial Freedom Parkway, and I know you will enjoy this map just as much as I do. While it is very similar to both Crown’s Money Map (which Howard co-created) and Dave Ramsey’s baby steps, this has the advantage of being able to print off in full color on a normal size of paper (8.5″ x 11″). I also like how they teach you to begin giving at Destination 1. When you realize that God owns everything and you are just the steward, then the rest of your finances begins to fall in place.
So if you are looking for a tool to help you begin taking the steps you need to towards Financial Freedom, this just might be the one.
