Debt Free Holidays with Perk Street Financial

Updated 11/16:  PerkStreet Extends 5% Holiday Cash Back Bonus Application Deadline!  Here’s the announcement from Perkstreet:

PerkStreet Extends Holiday Offer Application Deadline to Dec. 1, Helping Thousands More People Fight Holiday Debt.
PerkStreet Financial’s 5% cash back holiday offer — which includes 14 of the hottest holiday retailers and lasts through the end of the year — has been wildly popular since we kicked it off in the beginning of October. Originally scheduled to expire for new applicants 11/15/2010, this offer will now help thousands more Americans fight holiday debt than before, because we’re extending the application deadline to December 1, 2010.

PerkStreet hopes to help Americans earn a  billion dollars in cash back before the end of the year: “The retailers we’re offering this deal at are some of America’s favorite places to shop for the holidays,” said PerkStreet Financial CEO Dan O’Malley. “If everyone who shopped at these retailers in December used a PerkStreet card, we’d give over a billion dollars in cash back on those purchases.”

Why did we extend it?

“We’re hoping to make the holidays that much more special for the customers who sign up before December first,” said PerkStreet Financial COO Jason Henrichs. “Extending the offer will simply mean a better holiday season for those families.”

A while back I wrote about the PerkStreet Financial checking account and how you can earn cash back rewards when you spend.  Again, the great thing about this program is you earn when you spend on your normal purchases such as groceries, gas, etc.  Read my review of PerkStreet Financial to learn more.

As one of our affiliate partners, they sent me an email this week reminding me of the great benefits of this account and how they’re interested in helping people have a debt free holiday season through their holiday rewards program.  Here’s what they said:

Join PerkStreet now, and you’ll earn enough to make your 2011 holidays FREE by this time next year.

According to a recent survey by the National Retail Federation, the average American is planning to spend a little over $650 this year on the holidays. If they did all that spending on a PerkStreet card at any of our 5% Cash Back retailers, they’d earn about $35.

Add that to the $600 that the average American could earn annually with a PerkStreet card, and you’ve got almost enough money to cover your 2011 holiday spending by this time next year.  That’s a lot of cash!!

How are people doing this?

Here’s the deal.  Sign up for an account before 11/15/2010 and you’ll earn 5% cash back at these holiday retailers until 12/31/2010:

  • Macy’s
  • Kohl’s
  • Best Buy
  • JC Penney
  • Sears
  • Ann Taylor
  • Ann Taylor Loft
  • Banana Republic
  • J. Crew
  • Victoria’s Secret
  • Babies ‘R’ Us
  • Toys ‘R’ Us
  • Starbucks
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Plus, you will earn the standard PerkStreet rates on all other non-PIN purchases, which are

  • Get 2% cash back on all non-PIN purchases for the first 3 months (90 days) following account opening
  • After 90 days, get 2% cash back on all non-PIN purchases when your Account Balance is $5k or more, or 1% when your account balance is less than $5k

We just signed up!

We’ve been thinking of making the switch over to PerkStreet for a while and this is just too good of an opportunity to pass up.  So, we decided to sign up for a PerkStreet account tonight.  Our plan is to transfer our Christmas savings into our new PerkStreet account and use it as a separate account for Christmas and holiday spending.    We’ll then transition into using PerkStreet as our primary checking account.

The 5% cashback offer is ending tomorrow, so head on over to PerkStreet and sign up.  Even if you don’t make it by tomorrow, cash-back rewards for spending for budgeted items with your debt card is a super deal.
