Press on Toward the Ultimate Prize and Round Up

email

My men’s Bible study group at church is studying the book of Philippians this fall. The title of the study is the Amazing Race and Philippians 3:13-14 is the theme scripture.

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

This scripture helps remind me of how life is a journey.  There are many different areas in which we will and have made mistakes, but we have the opportunity to grow from them as we continue onward.  Personal finance is certainly one of these areas with common issues of debt, comparing ourselves to others, loving money (greed) and putting it before God.

When it comes to dealing with money, isn’t it easy for us to try to play God?  However, God wants us to open this area of our life, as with all areas, for Him to work and to mold us into the ultimate prize to be like His son, Jesus.

I really enjoyed the short video that was played this week. I found it to be encouraging and it helped me refocus on opening all areas of my life to let God’s chisel work.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

Some good posts around the personal finance blogosphere this week

This has been one of the busiest weeks I’ve had in a long time with work, my son’s first birthday party and family in town.  I didn’t have a chance to read a lot of posts, but but I did enjoy these two posts from Redeeming Riches and Borrow from None.
