Here we are on Christmas Eve 2009! It’s finally here! I thought I would take a break from the subject of personal finance today and provide an important post to help all families insure that Santa will in fact make it to their house tonight!
Don’t worry if there have been some days of naughty mixed in with nice at your house (maybe more naughty than nice
) this year! Santa typically gets milk and cookies, so why not make sure his reindeer get fed too!
Last year we made Reindeer food and my daughter and her neighborhood friends sprinkled the food around the yards. As the reindeer fly through the air pulling Santa’s sled, they see and smell the food in your yard. The reindeer can’t pass up this food, so read below to get the special recipe. Make sure you follow the directions exactly as I’ve written them and your sure to get a visit from Santa!
Ingredients (1 per child)
1 sandwich bag- 1 cup of uncooked oatmeal (either instant or old fashioned will do just fine)
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of red and/or green sugar crystals the kind you put on cookies
Directions
- Dump ingredients into a plastic bag and shake until mixed
- Help your children sprinkle the contents in around the yard. Note: sprinkling on top of snow or on grass works just fine.
- Tell your children to empty all the contents to insure the reindeer can see and smell the food
- Important: go outside after kids are in bed and create paw prints in the snow or landscaping/dirt. Show children the reindeer paw prints the next day.
I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas! Most importantly, I hope you’ll take the time with your family to consider the true meaning of Christmas which is the birth of our savior, Jesus.
Today in the town of David a savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. – Luke 2:11
