Having trouble staying focused on your financial goals, or any goals for that matter? I’m always looking for practical steps to take to help me stay on track. Certainly, life gets busy and we all need reminders. Perhaps you’re trying to spend less on junk food because it’s blowing your entertainment budget and is unhealthy.
Take the time to write down your top 3 short-term goals on two note cards and put them in a place you and your spouse (if married) can see them daily (on the refrigerator, bathroom mirror, etc.). You might even identify a Bible scripture or famous quote to write on the cards which can add encouragement for achieving the goals.
Try to rely on the SMART goal format. Make sure goals have these attributes: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. This format will help insure you have a well written goal. You can Google SMART goals for more information.
It’s difficult to have positive momentum or traction in your personal finances unless you have a target you’re trying to hit. Planning and focus is the key to success and will ultimately bring you closer to your financial vision.
How do you stay focused on your personal finance goals?
