I have been using MVelopes for about three years and it has transformed my saving and spending. Each paycheck i put into each of the budget categories and I can see each time an expense shows up and I place it in a category how the budget is going! I have saved more because it shows me how much is in savings and when I save money in a budget area by being frugal, I can more that money into savings. Yes it costs me something, but I have saved thousands each year!! And i can show my wife how much is left in the Christmas, gift or tithe account at a moments notice! Also if you are a longtime subscriber there is way to get lifetime membership. It is a great deal. Ask about it!

Brad, maybe. I think you have to look at what tool is going to help you the most based on your needs. I think Mvelopes is worth the price if you want great budgeting software. Mint doesn't compete with Mvelope's budgeting capabilities in my opinion. But, Mvelopes can't compete with Mint in regards to showing all your finances in one place such as investments, loans, etc. Mvelopes is budget focused and Mint is focused on all your accounts. I like them both, so it's a tough decision. :)

Seeing that the both are comparable and Mint is Free and MVelopes is extremely expensive with a reoccurring charge it's a no brainer. $12 a month for MVelopes is the highest I have found. I am in a free trial of MVelopes and have the free mint and think they are both great but when one costs so much.......Mint blows it out of the water.

I love Mvelopes, I just wish it had an Android / iPhone app. I'm trying to see if I can make Mint work for my budget mainly because I want to use their phone app. I know Mvelopes has the mobile site, but it's kind of a pain to log in, and click around the tiny links on my phone. While driving looking for somewhere to eat, I'd rather just click a shortcut on the phone desktop, and see my Mvelope balances.

I did not realize Mvelopes has been around that long--pretty awesome. I'm a big fan, as I'm sure you can see from the interview, and like Jason, I'm very excited to see what's coming in 2010. Also happy to beta-test and write about any new features... *hint hint* :)
