TurboTax Review: Which TurboTax Is Right For You?

TurboTax - Choose EasyStill trying to figure out what tax software you’re going to use this year to file your taxes?  TurboTax has turned into a widely known name with loyal customers who keep coming back year after year.

In this TurboTax review I discuss more about this popular IRS tax software and what benefits and features keep it ranking so highly in other tax filing software reviews across all the personal finance blogs

TurboTax touts that it will get you back your refund faster than their competitors. They also claim to have the easiest and most comprehensive tax software on the marketplace. Those are probably fair claims considering their history and enormous population of users.

They have a program called “Easy Guide”, specifically aimed at making the process smoother for first time users and those of us who aren’t tax professionals! Additionally, TurboTax has a great track record of being up to date with all the current tax laws and helping customers from being negatively affected by the changes. It’s nearly impossible for someone who isn’t a tax professional to stay up to date on tax law, so it’s nice to know the software does this for you.

Overall, I’ve found their software is simple to use and would be surprised if even novice tax filers will have little trouble while being guided through the process. While Turbo Tax is among the higher priced online tax services they also come with one of the highest rated customer support teams and top reputations.

I visited the TurboTax website and decided to summarize the 5 different versions for you. Here is a breakdown of each one’s pricing and the features they are currently offering:

TurboTaxFree (Free) - This version is meant for basic 1040EZ filers.

Deluxe ($29.95) – This version is meant for anyone who wants to maximize their deductions and has a home, children, accrued medical expenses or made donations.  It covers most forms and schedules.

Premier ($49.95) – This version is meant for rental property and investments. If you currently own bonds, stocks, rental properties or mutual funds then this version is a tailor made for such situations.

Home & Business ($74.95) – This version is meant for anyone who is self-employed or has a business. If you’re currently a sole proprietor, contractor, consultant, or a single-owner LLC, then this version provides a great way to make sure you’re maximizing tax savings.

Business ($129.95) - This version is meant for corporations, LLCs, and partnerships. If you currently have a LLC consisting of multiple members, a partnership or a corporation than this version helps you maximize all your business related deductions.

If you ever have any questions while using Turbo Tax the program you’ll find most of them answered within the software itself and are quickly cleared up. However, if you’re still seeking assistance, Turbo Tax also offers a service called “Ask the Tax Expert” which they charge for in 20 minute blocks where you can get telephone support on any additional questions or audit defense from a trained professional.

In summary, I’m pleased to share TurboTax again this year and believe it to be one of the best tax software products available, if not the best!
